10th Angel-versary

It's been ten years.  Ten years since my momma left me and went to heaven.  I can't believe I have survived these ten long years without her.  I do feel her presence all of the time in real and subtle ways.  Every time I see a sunset, I automatically think of her.....every time I see a rose or chocolate mouse, or a sugar bowl.  Every time I bear my testimony or have deep conversations with my kids or grandkids she is there.  I hear her voice in what I share.  So many things.   The biggest compliment anyone can give me is, "you are so much like your mom."

We shared about Dad's final request to deal with mom's "porno" picture when he was dead.  It hung in my garage for the past 8 years, and now it resides at Truman's house.

As a family we decided to celebrate mom with our own version of Sharing Sheri.

We ate Sheri recipes- served a Spaghetti dinner that she always called a “Cole-a-relli” and pie and trifle, and her famous Macaroni salad!  Liz is an expert at making this.

Liz talked Color Code, and  Gary 5 Love Languages,

We sang The Hallelujah Chorus - to represent mom's love of choir music and learned a TikTok dance of “I am your Mother.”   to honor her choreography skills..or as Adam liked to call it as a little kid, her "pornography skills."

We shared memories--

  1. Can’t is a 4 letter word- like a swear word.  “Why are you swearing?.. say instead, I’m not able to at this time, but I’ll keep trying.”
  2. Lifter.  Pie party or  donut party she  invited everyone - even the random Schwanns man.  She was all about inclusion.
  3. No cilantro- the one food she couldn’t eat.  IT tasted like Soap.
  4. Choir director  Cole collection. Loved to sing her warm alto.
  5. She always answered the phone very formally:  Good afternoon. Good morning. Good Evening…or Happy Holidays, or Merry Christmas, or Happy Easter.
  6. Most beautiful mom. Always did hair and makeup before going anywhere.
  7. Made and decorated every birthday cake for kids, siblings, nieces and nephews etc..
  8. Made up the word: “One-ovich”.  Meaning one of each type of pie, or each thing on the buffet…she also called it “A Russian serving .”
  9. She told us all the time, “Straight and tall.”  Very concerned about our posture.
  10. Queen of Sandwiches on the beach. She would place them in our hand and command us to not set down— otherwise the sand would get in.
  11. Determined to have Addison’s first food  be chocolate mousse
  12. Never pierced her ears because when she was growing up only the whores, Gypsies and prostitutes did.
  13. Promoted the family.  We were the best in her eyes.  She had great Joy in her posterity.
  14. Believed in Angels!  She would call on her angels all the time.
  15. Loves Jesus - strong testimony of the gospel and being his hands on earth.
  16. Asked for the “hard sisters” in her ward for visit teaching/ ministering
  17. Would say.  “Live so that when you wake in the morning and out your feet in the floor Satan and his followers tremble.”

Mom was a big force in our world and in many others….and we definitely feel her absence. So grateful for such a wonderful mother who was such a builder of people.

Rosalinda shared heartfelt thanks to our beautiful mom-- and we all cried over that.
