SonSeekers

Just came home from a wonderful Girlfriend- SonSeekers- trip.  We call ourselves Sonseekers because originally we always planned to get away somewhere that’s sunny.. So we were the Sun Seekers… then we found we talk of Jesus so much and we want to stay faithful and increase testimony so we are now the Son Seekers.

Anyway, 8 of us gathered down in St. George at Kim Johnston’s home.   We haven’t done this since 2019 because of  Erin’s and Si’s Missions, and Eric Johnston’s cancer diagnosis and death… so it’s been a long time since all 8 of us were together.  Si Foster, Laura Belnap, Erin Blake, Me, Kimi Farley, Heidi Bingham, Diane Lake and Kim Johnston. We all got to know each other in the same Mueller Park ward together and now only 2 still live in Bountiful.

We  sat on couches and talked A LOT.  We played games and went on walks, did a session at the St. George Temple, ate out and ate in, saw the movie- The Boys in the Boat, and did a white elephant exchange with funny WIGS!  IT was a hoot.

We all started in a circle with a wig cap on, then anytime you opened a wig you had to put it on..then you could steal wigs and then put on a new one.  We had some glam wigs, crazy wigs and a really ugly wig.  It was so much fun!   We all hadn’t laughed that hard in a very long time.

We had a Raclette dinner– which is very Austrian– it’s a grill on top and a melty cheese individual chambers on the bottom, kind of like fondue.  It takes a lot of time and allows for a lot of visiting.  Wayne’s sourdough bread made this meal perfect.

Kim gave us all her sister's book about going through cancer and losing her spouse.  (Kim has had two other siblings lose their spouse at young ages.). I gave everyone a sweatshirt because what’s a girl trip without matching shirts…. that said “Love Like Jesus”… and coincidentally the E J and S letters were highlighted in this saying…so what does that mean?  We decided in memory of Eric Johnston and Sonseekers.

Erin Blake lives in Arizona and returned from being Mission leader for the past three years in Denver Colorado  and now Si Foster  and hubby are going to be a mission leaders in the Phillipines starting in July for 3 years, so it could be a very long time again…before we can get together.    I love these ladies so much.
