Yard is in!

Well... we've lived iin Layton for 10 months and our yard is finally in!  It was so exciting to have flowers and trees and grass and a sprinkler system.    From this.....

To this.....  a $1,000 in trees and plants doesn't look like much.  But it's going to be gorgeous and fill out by next summer.

Father's day

Happy Fathers Day... I am blessed to have an amazing father.  I get that not everone gets this, but I'm so thankful I did.  My dad was so kind, tender-hearted, danced in the kitchen, yodeled, loved to serve his neighbors and family, loved horses and farm equipment, adored my momma, he was a great cheerleader and encourager of dreams, so accepting,  loved being a missionary- particularly in Scotland and I was so proud to be his daughter.

I got my Mother's day pic with Sophia and Andrew finally!
We started this day at the Layton Temple dedication being in charge of Sealing Room #4 as ushers.  Because of our subcommittee assignment, we got to usher in the temple and be in charge of sealing room # 4. It was a privilege.

So peaceful and tender to be there. Elder and Sister Bednar went from room to room to say hi to everyone before it started. We saw our friends, Brian and Jill Taylor too. He spoke at the session about growing up a few blocks from here and now there’s a temple. Elder Bednar dedicated it and shared how we could use the words House of the Lord instead of T. E. M. P. L. E. and it would be more applicable. Shared the scripture 1 Nephi 14:14.  14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory”.  This could be us in our day.  He also shared: D C  6:36 Look into me in every thought. Doubt not. Fear not”. As the way to go throughout our lives.

So wonderful to rejoice together. I love the Hosanna Shout( it makes me giggle)  and singing Spirit of God in the sealing room was glorious. The temple sat 1880 people- there were chairs everywhere.

We had a Father's Day BBQ in our backyard...our first one!  It worked out great.   We took this picture after Truman left dang it.

Laila sent Wayne this darling embroidered sweatshirt of he and Laila on a motorcycle.  The brothers all gave Wayne a Frozen meat assortment with sauces and rubs for his Traeger.

Hike to 5 Hot Springs

We went hiking with our Wangsgaard friends Tim and Linda up Spanish Fork canyon to the 5 hot springs.  It was a moderate hike, over 2 miles in, then the hotpots and a gorgeous waterfall.  We celebrated with soaking and donuts!  We did come across a nest os gopher snakes-- like 8- 10 all tangled up and some fighting and slithering across the trail.  It was creepy.

The older I get the more time I want to spend outside.  A good hike, a gorgeous day and being in nature fills my soul.

June happenings.

Wayne and I sang in our Stake's Temple celebration for the dedication of the Layton Temple.  It was so much fun to sing in a hundred voice choir.  This is a pic of the people in our Forest Hills ward who sang with us.  We are enjoying getting to know this new ward family.  We sand "Restored," "Spirit of God," and "Let us All Press on."
Holly treated Wayne to a Happy Brother's day meal at Chuck a rama...she does this in place of Father's Day.
Wayne and I went into the Tabernacle to see our Sophia sing in a Portuguese choir for a fireside that Elder Soares put on for the Portuguese saints.  We didn't understand one word!
Addison's "Kiss Me Kate" show opened at Centerpoint Theatre.  He is great at Fred Graham/Petruchio.  He has wanted to play this part since he was 8 and watched me perform in it as Kate at the Grand Theatre.

My aunt Darlene turned 90 and her family had a great open house for her where Dar sat in her chair, welcomed people and looked like a queen!
Wayne and I are biking!  I don't have a broken foot this summer so I'm looking forward to more rides.
I took our ward's primary activity day boys and girls to Camp Tracy.  IT was a great day...we hiked, canoed, rock climbed, bb gun shooting, archery, ga ga ball playing and found plants.... I love serving as ward Primary President.
