I love Christmas time....and Christmas movies. My mom watches the Hallmark channel all through December to see the cheesy, low budget, hand me a tissue movies every night. I don't do this....but I do like a few GOOD Christmas movies. I have mulled this list over and decided it's best in two sets of 5.
5 older movies:
White Christmas-- Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye..... two of my favorite old time actors!
A Christmas Story-- nostaligic piece. Love Ralphy-- the BBGun and the Leg Lamp.
The Santa Claus ( Tim Allen)-- this first movie is good...clever and fun....the rest were bad.
Albert Finney's Scrooge-- saw this int he 70's when it first came out, and we would make a point to see it at a movie theatre every year after that. The songs are stuck in my head FOREVER!
It's a Wonderful Life-- love this show, especially when I take the time to sit down and really watch it. Love James Stewart!
.........and 5 slightly newer movies
Elf-- a classic already.... Will Farrel's BEST work
Jim Carey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas-- This is funny and sweet and clever
The Holiday-- the English Country side, a Christmas cottage and throw in some Jude Law...you got a winner!
Muppet Christmas Carol-- my whole family thinks this is the best Christmas Carol out there...it helps the kids understand the story better, that's for sure.
Love Actually-- The "Clean Flicks"version is the only one I have ever seen. I saw it on an airplane first. I understand it's originally rated R...there is one story line that I have never witnessed, thank goodness....so watch with caution, or borrow my copy. Hugh Grant...I love the Brits... 5 stories all intertwined.
